WHY?
Does the world need more eyewear? Probably not. But we — racing-oriented high performance cyclists – do.
The ASSOS Werksmannschaft, our in-house product development pro team and, in essence, our product engineers, feels that the currently available generic sports glasses could be improved to meet the specific demands of the toughest sport in the world: Cycling.

THE METHOD
ASSOS is not an eyewear company. We are a cycling body R&D + refinement laboratory. At ASSOS we understand cycling and focus exclusively on cycling. Who the heck is Independent Fabrication? Independent Fabrication is a team of artists and fabricators purely focused on building your perfect bike. Hand forging bikes since 1995, Independent Fabrications (or IF) builds road, mountain, cyclocross, touring, and sport touring rides to your specifications.

What does a “custom order” entail? The whole kit-and-caboodle: frame, specialty paint, & decals. And, if that isn’t custom enough, the IF team has a number of add-on options (brackets, dropouts, headbadges, hubs, component kits, etc.) to take things to the next level.

Frame IF offers frames in steel, titanium, carbon fiber and titanium & carbon fiber blend. IF uses a traditional fit guide as the gateway in which you can modify to your specific desires. With years of experience to draw upon, they know this is just the launching point to your perfect geometry. Paint All steel frames are sand blasted, inspected, primed, painted, decaled, and clear-coated to your specifications. All of the titanium frames are first shot peened and then painted if and where applicable (for an additional cost). Carbon fiber bikes can be tinted for an additional cost. You can choose from 23 stock colors, and for an additional fee, you can have IF hand-mix colors to your personal preference. From there, select one of four paint packages to bring your bike to life. Decals All frames include a choice of stock decals in a variety of colors to complement your bike, or for an additional fee, a completely custom decal especially designed by yours truly.

Where are they based out of? The good ol’ U.S.A. Born and bred in Massachusetts.

Cynergy Cycles exclusive event consisted of BMC’s offering of 22 new bikes for the 2012 model year as they BMC shipped their factory tradeshow sample bikes to Cynergy for one night. This was amazing considering only a select group of the bicycling industry trade had seen the bikes to date and we were able to bring the bikes directly to you in the store for the event. We proudly brought in the finest food and wine to compliment the night, gift bags for the members of Cynergy-Black in attendance received BMC Team Replica kits as gifts.

Tra di Noi Restaurant provided the gourmet food for the evening which offered truffle and leak pizza, prosciutto wrapped asparagus and other delights. Our friends Cynergy-Black member Tarcisio Mosconi Managing Partner of Tra Di Noi and Chef Francesco who is the Executive Chef for the family of restaurants provided perhaps the finest food we have ever seen at a cycling event and remarkable service. Their location in Malibu serves as a spot we stop by for espresso on rides in addition they just opened a stunning location in Beverly Hills where members of Cynergy-Black and our crew have already been.

Malibu Family Wines selected and provided wine for the evening, offering a 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2010 Sauvignon Blanc from their collection. Malibu Family Wines has been a  presenting sponsor of The Tour of California, the vineyard supports cycling and we proudly only pour Malibu Family Wines at Cynergy events. George Hincapie and family as well as Chris Horner became fans of this local vineyard as well. Cynergy rode with MFW’s Sales Manager Kevin Bening last spring to the new tasting room that is rider friendly called Malibu and Vine located within the Malibu Country Club. The IMPEC made it’s way back to the store as the production is finalized, we have already taken orders on this bespoke offering which allows you to chose from multiple sizes and two different geometries. The IMPEC also allows your choice of component group and wheel set from various brands including Lightweights,dial in your fit by selecting stem length, handlebar width and seatpost layback.

The TeamMachine which uses BMC’s proprietary TCC carbon layout processes arrives for 2012 with a newly engineered seat clamp and post system and additional colors for the new season. The mountain bikes offering has a new ground up design which is BMC’s first carbon full suspension frame with the shortest chain stays on the market making the bike climb and corner efficiently, smoothly. We could keep going on about all the exciting product offerings from each brand we carry but this is a recap not a book. In closing ASSOS stopped by the launch with their new optics offering and Duncan Quinn a bespoke fashion house with a retail store in West Hollywood were also on hand. Duncan Quinn Suits are like the BMC Impec’s which are bespoke so order each before needed because they are built specifically for the buyer….check out the attached spy photo of the Assos Optics landing at Cynergy in late December order now be the first.

 Do not forget to meet Saturdays at 8AM for our shop ride as you never know what guest riders we will invite to join us, we are not name droppers but we will drop achievements; in the last 6 months we have had the following: two World Champion jersey winners, a Tour of California overall winner, two National Champion’s of separate countries, Olympic Medalist, A-List actors and well we have said enough.
